Assistant Photographer to Tempest Military

The Role:
An exciting opportunity to assist a small team of professional photographers in the Sandhurst/Pirbright area. We are looking for an enthusiastic and efficient Assistant Photographer to provide support to our photographers at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) and the Army Training Centre (ATC) Pirbright. A key aspect of this role will involve recording information and orders directly after the photograph is taken. The accuracy of this recorded information is paramount, as these details will be featured on the finished presentations.

Additionally, the role will entail:
• Creating bespoke artwork using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
• Face-to-face sales at various locations within the UK
• General administrative duties - articulacy, arithmetic, writing & computer skills are therefore essential
• Studio photography, ranging from children all the way through to grandparents
• Portraits on location

Training will be provided on all aspects of the job including studio and location photography.

Tempest Photography (H. Tempest Ltd) is a family-owned business specialising in portrait and group photographs for
theEducation sector - schools and universities - and not forgetting the UK’s uniformed services. The company’s head office and production facility is based near the picturesque town of St Ives in Cornwall, and is staffed by up to 200 employees. In addition, the company employs around 250 photographers throughout the UK. Our work for the Military market is largely conducted via our permanent satellite offices in Surrey.

Essential attributes of ideal candidate:
• Strong computer skills (specifically experienced in the use of MS Word
and Excel, as well as Adobe design software such as Illustrator and Photoshop)
• Flexibility in working times as early starts/late finishes may be necessary during term-time
• Good standard of basic fitness: There will be physical work involved when carrying photographic equipment from
shoot to shoot, delivering framed photographs and assisting with the erecting & dismantling of our pyramid staging
- Note: All shortlisted candidates must be willing to undergo a DBS (CRB) check prior to employment (or provide verifiable details of any previous such checks undertaken) plus a basic security check and must also provide two referees.

Desirable attributes of ideal candidate:
• Full clean UK Driving License

Starting salary: £17,500 Increasing by further £500 per annum after the six month probationary period and as you develop in the role.
